Justin Tatum played high school basketball at CBC where he helped lead the Cadets to a state title in 1997. He attended College at Saint Louis University (SLU) where he received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He helped lead the SLU Billikens to a Conference Championship in 2000 and made an NCAA appearance under Coach Lorenzo Romar. During Justin’s time at SLU he was named the Conference USA First Team All Defense player and was ranked 6th in blocked shots at SLU.
Justin has since transitioned from basketball player to basketball coach. Coach Tatum has been to the State Championship Final Four tournament 7 times in his 16 year career and won 3 State Championships (as coach). He has won four Public High League (PHL) Conferences with three District Championships. He has also won six Metro Catholic Conference (MCC) championships with seven district championships. Tatum has been recognized as Coach of the Year by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) four times throughout his coaching career.
Over Coach Tatum’s eleven years of coaching, he has guided many players to all levels of collegiate basketball. Coach Tatum has also guided many other successful student athletes who have gone on to achieve academic and athletic success after high school graduation as well as playing basketball at the professional level.
Coach Tatum served as the head boys’ Basketball Coach at his alma mater of Christian Brothers College High School (CBC) for eleven consecutive seasons. Justin has ranked as one of the premier Head Coaches in the state of Missouri with a record of 278 wins and 132 loses over the past 16 years.
Coach Tatum has provided leadership and been very involved in his own youth camps for the last eleven years with summer camps held at CBC High School for the last six years. The camps are well attended and give school age students the opportunity to meet new friends, learn and love the game of basketball, and get instruction from other area coaches and players.
Justin Tatum has three children, Jayson (25), Jaycob (19), and Kayden (9). His son Jayson played high school basketball locally at Chaminade College Preparatory School. Upon graduation, Jayson attended Duke University and in June 2017 he was selected as third overall draft pick to the Boston Celtics. His son Jaycob won 2 state High School football State Championships with CBC High School and now plays football at Western Illinois University.
